Scholarships for 2020
The CSEA Local 828 George M. Growney Memorial Scholarships and the CSEA Local 828 Unit 7400. . The Monroe Community College Unit 7402 is also sponsoring the Helen Elam MCC Scholarship for members and their children.
For second year applicants, please call the Local 828 office at 585.328.5250. Committees will be meeting jointly to review applications in late April and early May.
CSEA 828 will award four $1,000 scholarships and four $500 scholarships. Unit 7400 will award one $1000 scholarship. Unit 7420 will award a $200 scholarship.
Filing deadline for the Local 828 scholarships is Thursday, April 10, 2020. Winners will be notified via USPS by Friday, May 11, 2020.
The awards dinner for all scholarships sponsored by Local 828 and the Units of the Local will be held on June 2nd at the Liberty Lodge, Finn Park in Webster, N.Y. at 5 p.m.

CSEA, INC. awards twenty-four $1,000 scholarships under the Irving Flaumenbaum Memorial Scholarship and Thomas H. McDonough programs. Plus, Pearl Carrol & Associates LLC and MetLife each sponsor a one-time $2,500 award.
Most scholarship applications are available online and from Local and Unit presidents. Filing for a Flaumenbaum scholarship automatically puts an applicant in consideration for the Pearl Carroll & Associates LLC and MetLife scholarships.

2019 Irving Flaumenbaum Memorial Scholarship applications are now available.
Applications for CSEA's 2016 Irving Flaumenbaum Memorial Scholarship program are now available. The scholarship application deadline is April 30.
Scholarship Committee, CSEA, 143 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12210. Winners of the Irving Flaumenbaum Memorial Scholarship Award are eligible to apply for the Thomas H. McDonough programs scholarships; applications are automatically mailed to eligible students in late August.
CSEA offers a special scholarship program, the J.J. Kelly Memorial Scholarship Fund, for children of members killed or totally disabled in the course of performing their public service duties. Scholarships are awarded based on availability of funds. Details are published in The Work Force. AFSCME Scholarships
The AFSCME Family Scholarship Program provides at least 13 scholarships of $2,000 each that are renewed for a maximum of four years. CSEA/AFSCME members' children (or whose legal guardian is an active CSEA/AFSCME member), and who are high school seniors are eligible.
For an application, visit AFSCME's website or download the application brochure. The application must be postmarked no later than Dec. 31. Winners are announced March 31.
The Union Plus Scholarship Program, sponsored by the Union Plus Education Foundation, helps union members and their families defray the cost of higher education. The amount of the award ranges from $500 - $4,000. This is a one-time cash award sent to individual winners for study beginning in the fall of the same year. Applications must be postmarked by Jan. 31.
The Joey Parisi Memorial Scholarship is awarded to local union officers with substantial organizing responsibilities. The scholarship covers the cost of one year's participation in the bachelor's degree program at the National Labor College of the George Meany Center for Labor Studies.
The scholarship award includes the cost of the application, administrative portfolio and counseling fees, tuition cost for two courses for each of two terms, two round-trip economy airfare tickets from the student's home to Washington, D.C. In addition, single occupancy room and board for the required weeks-in-residence, and the cost of require text. Lost time not included.

The Jerry Clark Memorial Scholarship Program is an ongoing program available to children of AFSCME members. Under the program, one scholarship in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded annually to two students majoring in the social sciences for his/her junior and senior years of study. The chosen students will also be given the opportunity to intern at the International Union headquarters in the Political Action department during the summer between his/her junior and senior year or for one semester during his/her junior or senior year. Once awarded, the scholarship will be renewed for the senior year of study, provided the students remain enrolled in a full-time course of study as a social science major.Applications must be postmarked by April 30, 2019.
