Jan. 24, 2012-- CSEA scored a major victory last night in Mayville.
The Chautauqua County Legislature defeated a resolution Wednesday to sell the County Home to William "Avi" Rothner of Altitude Care. The measure needed a super-majority - 17 yes votes to pass. The vote was 16 yes and 9 no.
CSEA officers and staff lobbied legislators heavily in recent days, including as late as two hours before the vote. The county executive told reporters after the meeting he would have Marcus and Millichap look for other potential buyers and the issue could come up for another vote in the future.
