A BETTER NEW YORK FOR ALL

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Our 2011 Albany Lobby Day was a great success! Thank you for your enthusiasm and your attendance.

We had nearly 2,000 people join us from all over New York to tell our legislators we need them to make decisions we can be proud of, need them to stand up for working-class families and to tell them that public and non-profit service employees were part of the solution to building a better New York for all.

Now, we need you to follow up. Click here to tell your senator to make choices for which we can be proud.
Remind them why we visited them on lobby day and make sure to express these points strongly:

Don't let the income tax surcharge on New York's wealthiest expire! $5 billion in revenue that would be lost would mean dramatic cuts in healthcare, education and public services all across the state of New York. Good jobs and so much else is at stake. We can't fight this battle with one hand tied behind our back!

Stop this assault on jobs! Governor Cuomo's budget does nothing to create any new jobs and will destroy thousands of jobs. If Albany doesn't move fast, job losses could occur as soon as the first of April! Act now to fight for healthcare and human services, education, daycare, local government, public safety and state services.

The public is on our side! Just last week, the New York Times released a poll showing a majority of Americans prefer saving essential services to tax breaks.  Get with the program!
