Rochester, N.Y.-- Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said he wanted to balance the budget, but we all knew that was completely untrue. And, on Wednesday night, Wisconsin Senate Republicans used a cheap political trick to rubber stamp the governor's attack on collective bargaining-- and it won’t save Wisconsin taxpayers one dime.

Now their true motive is exposed for all to see-- paying back CEO campaign donors by letting them privatize public services while at the same time stealing worker rights for political expediency.

The labor community is telling our New York lawmakers to not go down this path-- not in the Empire State. Attacks on collective bargaining will not stand.

Fortunately, among the electeds who have stepped up to the plate and are going to bat for worker rights include, but not limited to, are:  U.S. Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (D-29), NYS Assemblyman Harry Bronson (D-131), Monroe County Legislators Carrie Andrews (D-21) and Dick Beebe (D-6), and City of Rochester Councilman Matt Haag (At-Large).

Monroe County Democratic Legislative Minority Leader Carrie Andrews is showing true leadership here, getting out in front on this issue.  Simply stated, politicians who ignore the will of the people will pay the price at the ballot box come Election Day.

Below is a copy of a memorializing referral that is floating through the Monroe County Legislature right now. All 12 Democratic lawmakers have signed on to publicly support working families and protect the middle-class way of life.  The folks at the CSEA Voice Reporter thought you should know.
